The information contained gives a general idea about "Dermal Fillers" and does not replace a consultation.
The consultation is personal and specific to the individual concerned.
All consultations involve taking a thorough medical history and a physical examination of the relevant area involved.
Dermal fillers are used in the initial stages when facial wrinkles begin to deepen but when a facelift is not yet necessary.
They raise the wrinkles so reducing the depth and plumping out the skin giving a more youthful look.
Dermal fillers are now generally collagen or a version of this and are manufactured in a laboratory and so, in general, are
synthetic.
They can be used in the facial grooves particularly the cheek folds between the cheek and the chin and the lower lip and the
chin. They are also used in the lips and also in any wrinkles that are produced by the ageing process and not by action of the
muscles. Botox should be used for these (see Botox).
The fillers are injected directly into the skin.
